About American Glass Museum
American Glass Museum is the "Hub" an online business composed for a network of glass identification and valuation websites. It can serve as an online business school for visitors looking to make money selling their own antique glass collections.
From American Glass Museum you can follow links to many sites where we showcase high resolution photos of antique glass which we also offer for sale. We use Ebay auctions to help bring traffic, but for the most part rely on our glass related pictures and content to attract collectors.
American Glass Museum is part of a family of websites where we describe how we exploit online business opportunities. Other sites you should visit to get the whole story are:
- Paul & Erik: The multiple domain strategy for online sales and the technical requirements to make it work.
- Walking Rain Gallery: A system for selling high resolution photos from home or while traveling in your RV.
- Wealth With Websites: The actual keyword rich domains at the heart of our online home business.
Moving forward with American Glass Museum requires us to improve our skills in two areas:
- We must learn to take better pictures of our glass. Glass is really hard to photograph. For example, one of the real charms of crackle glass is the way sunlight glints from the fracture lines when it is hit by the sun. It should be possible to simulate that with strobe lights. Better pictures will be rewarded in several ways. It will bring visitors back. Well photographed glass will sell for more money. With really good high resolution pictures we think we can sell stock photos for customers to use in making custom gifts. For example, a son or daughter with a mother who collects Hummels, could use one of our stock photos to make a set of note cards or a calendar.
- Update our valuation accuracy. Lots of people look at our sites for help in determining what their item is worth before selling or insuring it. Guidebooks don't work well anymore because the market is all online (think Ebay) and in these uncertain economic times changes quickly. We think the better approach will be a series of screen capture videos that show how to use free online resources to determine an accurate valuation.
