Cased Glass is made by combining layers of glass with different colors. For example a white milk glass shell mght have a coating of blue glass on the inside. The results can be very pretty.
Cased glass was made by many of the West Virginia glass manufacturers. Whenever one of them hit upon a successful line of shapes/colors the others would quickly look to make something similar. It makes it hard to be sure who made a particular piece of glass unless the label is still attached.
