Toothpick Holders

by Paul

Toothpick holders are not all made from glass, but enough of them are it seemed reasonable to include them on a site about art glass.  They are typically small and relitively easy to make so most of the West Virginia glass makers included them in their line of products.

Toothpick holders make a good theme crossover product for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) purposes.  Because they were made from glass, silver, porcelain, and other materials it is easy to creats on-topic links to non-glass sites.  For example, if I also have a porcelain figurine site, I can link to it from a page on the toothpick site which features porcelain toothpicks.

ToothpickHolders.org is the website we are building to help visitors identify and value toothpick holders.  We will be publishing pictures of toothpick holders from our own collection. We will also set up automated searchs with filters of current Ebay auctions.  This organization and the auction pictures should help novice visitors quickly identify their toothpick holders.  Once they know exactly what they have they can follow auctions for identical items and see what they sell for.

Below is a small sample of current toothpick holder auctions.

I am interested in liquidating my toothpick holder collection. I have china and porcelain – very good quality. Can you offer suggestions? I do not have the ways and means or time to eBay. Is there a good way to appraise them?

Thank you for your time.

You might want to visit terapeak.com. At the very bottom of the page is a link to “Sample Report” That will take you to page where you can enter a search like porcelain toothpick holder and it will return results from the last seven days auctions using those keywords. It will show average sale price and a lot of other information.

As a collector you already know the best search terms to use to narrow down the results as much as possible. You still have to be careful because the results are an average and can be effected by things like condition which are hard to eliminate without reading every listing description. You have to buy a subscription if you want to go back farther than seven days.
